MIT celebrates a year of excellence at the 2019 Awards Convocation
On May 13, over 300 people in the MIT community gathered when you look at the Samberg Center (E52) to commemorate outstanding achievements by students, student teams, professors, and community members at the yearly MIT Awards Convocation. Altogether, more than 60 awardees were recognized due to their accomplishments in management, academics and teaching, public-service, athletics, the arts, and service to MIT.
Inside a video message to attendees, MIT President L. Rafael Reif commended all award recipients for playing a task in shaping the Institute community. ”MIT attracts great strength from talented, creative, dedicated individuals in almost every place of your campus. Today we give you thanks for several you do to make MIT therefore unique.”
The nomination procedure the 30-plus awards starts during the early February and persists weeks into the spring semester. Winners are selected by committees convened for every honor. This current year, MIT community people posted over 500 nominations across all honor categories.
