Social Skills Enhancement (Project BASIC)

Ages: Kindergarten through 3rd Grade

This service helps elementary school children by enhancing students’ interpersonal skills and identifying emotionally disturbed children. This free program is provided through a grant from the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.

Violence and Bullying

Ages: students in grades 4 – 8

The Violence and Bullying Prevention Program trains and partners with teachers to instruct students in the skills of empathy, impulse control, problem-solving and anger management. This free program is provided through a grant from the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.

Substance Abuse Prevention (Be Sharp)

Ages: 11 – 17

This service is a comprehensive substance abuse prevention program that helps pre-teens and teens build communication skills, and encourages anti-drug attitudes and avoidance of high-risk behaviors. This free program is provided through a grant from the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services-Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services.

Teen Pregnancy Prevention (Be In Charge and Be In Charge 2)

Ages: 12-19

This service provides evidence-based, medically accurate pregnancy prevention services in local schools. This free program is provided through a grant from the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services, Office of Adolescent Health.

Areas served: Serving select schools in Bedford, Coffee, Cheatham, Davidson, Dickson, Franklin, Giles, Hickman, Houston, Humphreys, Lawrence, Lewis, Lincoln, Marshall, Maury, Montgomery, Moore, Perry, Robertson, Rutherford, Stewart, Sumner, Trousdale, Wayne, Williamson and Wilson counties (Note: the areas served are expanding to West and East Tennessee as well as Southwest Kentucky and portions of Indiana)

Ages: 18-24

This service provides age-appropriate substance abuse and HIV prevention services to at-risk young adults. This free program is provided through a grant from the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration/Center for Substance Abuse Prevention.
